ALTERNATING ARM SWING
Uneven and non-swinging arms are a symptom of Parkinson’s that can throw off balance. This exercise helps you coordinate your movements so that your arms swing in opposition to your legs in a normal walking pattern.
If you need something to help you with your balance, have a chair or counter top close at hand.
This exercise requires no special equipment, though you could add music or use a timer.
Add Physical Challenge:
Try just swinging your leg back and forth without touching your toes to the floor in the front and back. Another variation is to swing your leg to one side while swinging both of your arms to the opposite side.
Add Mental Challenge:
You can increase the mental intensity of this workout by adding music and keeping a beat, singing, counting, and/or snapping your fingers.
