UPPER BACK ROTATION

Benefits:

Parkinson’s causes stiffness in the torso, which limits rotation and makes movements robotic. It can also affect balance. This exercise is great for upper spine rotation and has beautiful rhythmic movement much like Tai Chi.

Safety:

If you are having balance issues, you can do this one seated.

Simple Equipment:

Increase the intensity by using a resistance band hooked around a secure stationary object.

Add Physical Challenge:

After a light band becomes easy you can move up to a heavier band. Try to spot an object on the wall behind you and look for it each time you rotate.

Add Mental Challenge:

For this exercise all kinds of verbal games can be applied. Try smiling and/or singing while doing this exercise.
